History of CERH:
In the conference room of Hotel Nova Park in Zurich, from 31 May to 1 June 1975, in a meeting convened by Antonio Gonzalez Fernandez from Spain, at that time President of the Spanish Skating Federation, and with the presence of Mr Mariggi, then President of FIRS (Fédération Internationale de Roller Skating), on request of the Federations from Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland, the proposal for the foundation of the CERS (European Confederation of Roller Skating) was discussed and voted.
At the same meeting, the composition of the members of the CERS and the Techncial Committees was also proposed. On the list were as 2nd Vice President M. Castel Branco from Portugal, who would become the first President of the CERH (European Rink-Hockey Committee), and Mr. Joop C. de Brujin from the Netherlands. Meetings followed in Viareggio, Italy, on 6 and 7 September 1975 and on 19 April 1976 in Montreux, Switzerland. In the meantime, in Madrid, the first Seat of the CERS was inaugurated, in the street "dos Embajadores" nº 61 - 3ºA, where on 7 February took place the first meeting of that Confederation. For discussion and approval of the statutes of the CERS a meeting was held in Oviedo, Spain, on 27 September 1976, where the first Statutes were approved unanimously by the 10 delegations of European Federations present. In the same meeting, the President of the CEP, Mr Van Wyngaerden, would be replaced by Mr. Sartorius from Germany. In 1976 takes place the 15th edition of the European Juniors Championship in Barcelos, Portugal, Portugal winning. This was the first Championship to be played under control and with the rules of the CERH, with its first President in office Mr Joop C. Bruijin. On 29 July 1977 in the Casa do Desporto, in Oporto, on proposal accepted by the Assembly, Mr. Joaquim Hortal form Spain would be named as the first Secretary General.
